1st Air Force
The 1st Air Force is the largest, and arguably the sexiest, organization in the Air Force. It consists of combat aircraft of all types (fighters, ground attack aircraft, bombers) and also specialized aircraft that enable more efficient killing (like AEW aircraft).
The wings and squadrons assigned to 1st Air Force are responsible for the defense of the home island, but they are also available for deployment overseas - either as part of 1st Air Force or as part of another Air Force organization.
