Wolves / Lobos
The 1st Mechanized Infantry Division is a large combined arms force designed to close with and destroy enemy forces through fire, maneuver, and shock effect. Over 13,000 soldiers proudly wear the Wolf patch on their uniform. The division has a long and proud history of defending the ROD and her interests around the globe.
The division is currently based in Mexico, at the ROD's newest installation several miles south of Ensenada in Baja California. While the division's official nickname is Wolves, the soldiers of 1st Mech Division refer to themselves as "Lobos" to honor their Spanish-speaking hosts.
